Critical Illness
When an employee or one of their family members becomes critically ill, their staggering medical costs coupled with a loss of income make it very difficult (if not impossible) to make ends meet.
That’s why Universal Benefit Plans provides voluntary individual critical illness insurance plans from multiple carriers which pay a lump sum benefit at the first diagnosis of a covered illness.
Benefits are paid directly to the employee and may be used at their discretion to pay for:
- Deductibles, co-pays and expenses their health plan doesn’t cover
- Experimental treatment for their illness that is not covered by the health plan
- Travel and lodging expenses for out-of-town treatment
- Home care and/or the equivalent
- Day-to-day living expenses such as rent/mortgage, utilities, groceries, etc.
